Beth Ashton (Mierzwa), RDH
Independent Oral Care Specialist
After twelve years in corporate management and eight years as a stay at home mom, Beth decided to embark on a new adventure. In 2006 Beth received her degree from Prairie State College, in Chicago Heights, Illinois as a Registered Dental Hygienist at the age of 46. Beth has been practicing in private practice for the last twelve years in Chicago’s Beverly/Mount Greenwood area with Dr. Kellie Rhodes-Galyes.
Seeing oral health care as a calling, she has had the opportunity to do a lot of dental mission work. In 2008 Beth designed and opened a dental clinic at the orphanage of Nuestros Perquenos Hermanos (NPH) in the Dominican Republic. One of her greatest joys was seeing two of the resident youth work with international volunteers at the clinic. They then applied and were accepted into dental school in the DR. Beth’s passion for mission work has also brought her into the Sierra Madre Mountains of Guerrero Mexico to deliver much needed oral health care in 2011, 2014 and 2018. She was the solo hygienist on the mobile dental team for El Nino Rey based out of St. Norbert Parish in Northbrook, IL. Beth has also participated in two Illinois Mission of Mercy dental events.
Beth has joined HyLife as an Independent Oral Care Specialist to continue spreading her passion of Oral Health to those most overlooked. With the ageing of her parents at 90 and 89, she understood that specialized oral health care and education needed to be more accessible to families and care communities of elders. She was thrilled when she then discovered her desire in the mission of HyLife Oral Health Alliance.
Beth currently resides in LaGrange, Illinois with her partner, John. Proud mother of a Loyola graduate, Helena. She enjoys running and spending time at art openings, jazz clubs and great food places in downtown Chicago.
